Activities & Events!   Deal Corner - Sneak Peek!

Red House Farm, Kate

Fresh Chicken season is here!!! I have all manners of cuts of fresh, pastured, never frozen chicken available this weekend. Canine Candy is also back in stock. Chicken and ducks are laying well so there will be lots of eggs! I also have grassfed lamb, goat, pastured/woodland heritage pork and BEEF! I just picked up my first beef from the butcher and have it for sale.

Our sausage flavours are: Plain Ground Pork, Old Country Style (Onion and Herb), Kielbasa, Cheddar Bratwurst, Cheddar Jalapeno Bratwurst, Chorizo, Spicy Tuscan, Sweet Italian, Hot Italian, English Bangers, Beer Brats, Spicy Creole, Spicy Korean Style, Maple Breakfast Mini Links, Sage Breakfast Mini Links. And we have bacon!

Fresh chicken: Whole, spatchcocked, boneless skinless breasts, bone-in skin-on breasts, drumsticks, broth packs, thighs, leg quarters.

Lamb: Spare Ribs, Loin Chops, Rib Chops, Ground Lamb, Boneless Leg Roasts, Shoulder Arm Roasts, Organs, Stew meat.

Beef: Ground, Roasts, Stew, Sandwich Steaks, Sirloin Steaks, Bavette Steaks, Merlot Steaks.

Shepherd’s Whey Creamery

Shepherd’s Whey will have a full lineup of our artisan goat milk cheeses:

Chevre: We have two Seasonal Chevres for the month of May. Our sweet variety is “Rhuberry” – locally sourced rhubarb cooked down into a sauce and blended with strawberries and then mixed into our honey sweetened chevre. Perfect lathered on a bagel or served on French toast. Our savory variety is “Horseradish and Parsley”: A blend of prepared and raw horseradish mixed into our chevre with fresh parsley. With just a bit of heat this chevre is delicious atop a baked potato or served with roast beef. I’ve been putting it in my eggs all week!

Routine Chevres: Basil, Black Pepper and Classic

Feta: Greek style Feta in quarter or half pound portions in the brine, aged in brine 2 months. First Place Feta at the 2019 ADGA National Goat Cheese competition.

Bloomie Rinds:

Napoleon’s Peak – our Pyramid shaped ashed bloomy (my personal favorite of all our cheeses).

Snow Buttons – a cute little 1/4 pound patty of ashed bloomy – We will have them back at market this weekend!

Classic Camembert – a wheel of ooey gooey goodness. We are at the peak season for this bloomy rind – late season milk makes the cheese ripen with a thicker paste and a very approachable flavor.

Fresh Ricotta – made fresh each Friday available in 1/3 pound tubs.

Aged Semi-hard cheeses: This week we will have:

Caerphilly – A Welsh cheddar – named after the town in Wales that developed this style of cheddar. Aged 14 months.

Potomac Sunrise – Our most awarded cheese taking first place semi hard cheese and Best in Show at the ADGA 2021 National Goat Cheese Competition. This curd washed cheese has a Nutty flavor. This batch is REALLY GOOD! Come by for a sample to see for yourself!!

Crescendo! – This is our take on Manchego – white flesh juxtaposed against the chocolate brown rind makes this a really pretty cheese for your cheese board.

Goatgurt – a spoonable cultured treat with live active yogurt cultures.

Goatgurt Smoothies: A gut healthy drinkable yogurt available in Strawberry, Apple Cinnamon and Vanilla.

Shade’s Farm

Honey, Beeswax Candles, and Whipped Honey to sweeten things up. Sadly, won’t be harvesting rhubarb this week due to drought conditions, no rhubarb or limited amount until the next week & silver lining with the dry weather has made turning and sifting manure into compost efficient and a productive bounty of “gardeners gold” in between working bees. So, up for grabs are a few buckets of bunny powered composted rabbit manure for your gardening needs.
